On Sunday we attended the first ever meet up for the Birding – Arizona and the Southwest Group at Riparian Preserve in Gilbert. While we showed up a little late it was well worth it as we met a bunch of photographers from the group that we have been talking to for a while.
We had some special guest courtesy of Liberty Wildlife who were very nice and striking poses for us. Below is a red tailed hawk and an owl. The strip you see in the hawks mouth is actually one of his feathers. I could have photoshopped it out but I like the way it looks. You will also notice the different colors in the photos. First photo was taken with both the hawk and me in the shade. Second photo was hawk in the sun and me in the shade. The third photo both the hawk and me in the sun.
When taking photos of birds being held by a handler you have a better chance of a good picture since the bird isn’t flying. The focus point on all these birds is the birds eye. If you look closely you can see the group in the background. We had a lot of fun and we can’t wait until the next one.
